Helmet name generator
This name generator will give you 10 random names for helmets, hoods, masks and other headgear.
Most names will generally fit fantasy styles better than other fiction genres, but there are plenty of names which could work in almost any setting.
The names have been divided into 5 separate categories, based on how the name is created.
The names and categories are pretty self-explanatory, but here's a quick summary:
- The first 2 names are 'Helm of Adjective Noun' names.
- The next 2 names are like the first 2, but with a material added.
- The next 2 names are '(Adjective) Material Helm' names.
- The next 2 names are '(Adjective) Helm of (the) Noun' names.
- The last 2 names are 'Adjective/Verb/Preposition of (the) Noun' names.
Unlike the weapon and shield names, the helmet (and other armor) name generators don't have 'real' names in the generated names, like 'Excalibur' for a sword. This is because pieces of armor are rarely named like this, even in popular (non)fiction.
For example, the helm of the Lich King (World of Warcraft) is called 'Helm of Domination'. The crown of the Witch-King of Angmar (Lord of the Rings) doesn't have a name at all.
The names are divided into heavy and light armor though. Which is to say, if you click 'heavy helmets' you'll get names for plate, mail and similar armor types. If you click 'light helmets' you'll get names for leather, hide and cloth armor.
A final note, like the weapon name generators, the armor name generators also share a lot of the names with each other. There are generally a few differences with each of them, but besides the obvious difference in armor type you probably won't really notice too many differences. But there are literally thousands of names which could be generated, so you might not even find the same name twice in any generator.
