Slovak name generator
This name generator will give you 10 random Slovak names and surnames.
Slovakia is a relatively small country in Central Europe and has a population of roughly 5.5 million people. Slovakia has a turbulent history and was often controlled by a different kingdom, empire or other power and it wasn't until 1993 that Slovakia became an independent state after Czechoslovakia peacefully split into Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
As a result of this turbulent history and because Slovak is part of the Slavic language family a lot of Slovak names are very similar to those of countries around Slovakia. Many naming conventions found within the Slavic languages were present in Slovakia at some point in time as well, but modern names tend not to follow any of these any more, besides the tradition of surnames being passed on through marriage and through the paternal line at birth. Many of the older naming conventions do still leave traces though, names change only gradually after all, especially surnames.
Surnames are sex dependent, meaning female names will be given a suffix. The suffix also depends on whether the woman is married or not. If she is the suffix will be -ová, which is added to her husband's family name. If she isn't married the suffix is -á, which is added to their father's surname.
