This name generator will generate 10 random Ukrainian names and surnames.
Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe with a population of over 44 million. It has a diverse population with many different cultural influences, which is also reflected in the country itself and in the personal names the Ukrainians use. Russian and Slavic influences are the most prominent, but they're not the only influences you'll find.
Ukrainian first names are usually of either a religious origin or of Slavic origin, but many names have several forms just as many other Eastern European countries do. Ukrainian surnames are incredibly diverse and range from patronymic names to matronymic names, and from occupational names to military names and many others. Many of these can be identified through the suffixes they use, although not all surnames have a suffix. The majority of names have one of the following suffixes: -enko, -ko and -chuk, but there are many others as you'll probably notice in this generator.
On top of a personal name and a surname, Ukrainians also have a patronymic name, which is a name derived from the father's name. These names translate to 'son of' and 'daughter of', similar to how Johnson means 'son of John' for example.
