Charity highlight: Knitting for animals

Hello and welcome to the second charity highlight on my site! If you have no clue what this is about, here is a page with more details to fill you in.
This month I'd like to highlight charities who focus on animals through the act of donated knitted products. In some cases this means donating goods they use, in others it means donating goods meant to be sold for funding. Either way, there are plenty of ways to help.
As before, I've separated the charities based on their location. This time around there are specific charities for Australia, Canada, the UK and the US, but there are usually also local places in need of knitted products no matter where you live. Keep in mind that this is by no means an extensive list, so with some extra searches you might be able to find one more local to you.

Important!

Keep in mind that not every charity has the resources available to update their sites with their needs in timeley manners. It's usually best to contact them to see if they're still in need of what their site states before sending them anything.

Worldwide

Snuggles Project

Site: SnugglesProject.org
Any costs: Shipping to/within the USA. Material costs if you make your own cards with new materials.
Target: Animal shelters worldwide. See this page for a participating shelter in your country (shelters from 42 countries around the world are participating).
Notes: Blankets (called snuggles) are donated directly to a charity. you then report to the Snuggles Project to let them know you have made a donation to help them monitor how well the project is going.
My due diligence findings: Registered as a non-profit organization (EIN 93-1230084), though due to their small size not much is known. Nothing nefarious popped up elsewhere. :)

Your local animal shelter

In many cases, your local animal shelter is likely in need of blankets or other knitted goods for their animals. In some cases to keep them warm and comfortable, in others to calm them down, and in even others as a means to help them be adopted. Calm animals are more likely to be adopted, and animals with toys or little bows and such often have a higher chance of being adopted as well. But make sure you call your local shelter first to see if and what they might need.

Australia based

Wires

Site: wires.org.au
Any costs: Shipping costs and costs of yarn.
Target: Various young animals in need of a pouch to grow up in.
Notes: Specific requirements need to be met to ensure the welfare of animals.
My due diligence findings: They're an older charity with a long track record. The ACNC (Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission) has also conducted a review of their use of funds during the 2019-2020 bushfires, and found that funds were used properly. Full study is found here.

Canada based

Wildlife Rescue Nests

Site: wildliferescuenests.weebly.com
Any costs: Shipping costs and costs of yarn.
Target: Wildlife rehabilitators around the world.
Notes: It is required to sign up with a proof of skill to ensure nests and other goods are crafted at the correct requirements to ensure animal safety and to keep track of how many nests are made and where they are needed most.
My due diligence findings: Registered as a non-profit organization (EIN: 74-2012897) with a long track record and many great reviews. Nothing nefarious popped up elsewhere. :)

UK based

US based

WildCare's Baby Bird Nest Campaign

Site: wc.convio.net
Any costs: Shipping costs and costs of yarn.
Target: Creating nests of various sizes for orphaned birds to help ensure their survival.
Notes:
My due diligence findings: Registered as a non-profit organization (EIN 51-0172331), however, their financial score isn't the greatest. While this may not necessarily be of importance when donating knitted nests, keep it in mind either way.

Money where my mouth is

As before, below you'll find receipt of the donations I've made. Sadly I've never knitted and won't be able to reach the required standards for these charities, so monetary donations will be all the help I can offer during this month's charity highlight.

Love,
- Emily
