Mormon / The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints name generator
This name generator will give you 10 random names unique or common to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, often known as Mormons to outsiders, are a religious and cultural group started by Joseph Smith in the 1820's. Their beliefs and scriptures make them generally very family oriented, and their beliefs prohibit addictive substances including alcohol and tobacco. They also value honesty, integrity, obedience to law, and living with an emphasis on the lessons taught by Jesus Christ and those found in their scriptures.
The term Mormon is rejected by the Latter-Days Saint president because it removes Jesus' name from the church name and because it is their belief god told Joseph Smith (the founder) the name is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint, not Mormon. Some have accepted this, some don't see the point and others have different beliefs on it still. I've included both terms, in part because the official name is incredibly long and in part because many do identify as Mormon. Many outsiders also don't know the difference, so for them it's easier to find this generator if I add both terms while giving context through this description.
As far as names go, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is found across the world so you'd find names from a wide range of cultures among its members. Some names are more common or unique among those in the US however, which has the largest population of 6.6 million, with Mexico and Brazil following with 1.5 million members each. This generator focuses on the names seemingly unique to this religion, which are often combination names or made up names, like Brulee, Hannlin, Laverkin and ChadlyAnne. Some names are almost French in nature, like LaBerta, LaConna, L'Anique, and so on. But new trends pop up as time goes on as members aren't bound to using names from scriptures or other naming conventions. These more unique names are most commonly found in Utah (the heart of LDS influence), though you'll find other names here as well.
There aren't any uniquely LDS surnames either, though some surnames do pop up more often than not. Many of them date back to the pioneers who settled primarily in Utah, but because of this they're often widely found outside of the LDS Church community as well.
