Tortollan, as their name implies, are a race of turtle-like beings native to Zandalar. They're an ancient and long-lived people, with a 2372 year-old individual still considering to be young, who began their lives akin to their real life counterparts. During a world quest, the players can help the new born turtles to make it to the water by defending them against crabs and albatrosses.
Tortollan society focuses on the pursuit of knowledge, the discovery of artifacts and the wielding of magic through magical scrolls. Despite being an integrated in Zuldazar, Tortollans tend to stay neutral on matters beyond their own.
Tortollan names are often short and guttural, but here and there can be longer or melodic as well. There isn't really any difference between male and female names aside from arguably female names ending in a vowel more often than not. Male names also end in vowels a lot though, so this could just be a coincidence as a result of relatively few named female Tortollans. The names Tiang, Maedin and Tareh additionally prove female names can end in consonants as well.
