Xitsonga name generator

This name generator will give you 10 random Xitsonga names.

Xitsonga, also known internationally as Tsonga, is a language spoken by the Tsonga people (Vatsonga) who inhabit parts of South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. There are roughly 4 million speakers (as of 2011) of which the majority live within South Africa, though there are variations within different dialects sometimes called Tsonga. The three main ones are Tsonga, Tswa and Ronga, which are mutually intelligible. The differences are the result of both a history of many smaller tribes gradually becoming one united people while still retaining their identities, as well as the creation of borders as a result of colonialism.

As far as names go, Vatsonga pick names based on meaning. Giving a baby a name cements them as an individual, and the meaning of the name can be of importance. The meaning is usually related to the circumstances around a baby's birth, but can also be a way of passing on the names of previous generations and keeping their memories alive in doing so. I've included the meanings of the first names after the surnames, as seen below.
