Roller derby name generator
This name generator will generate 10 random names for roller derby players.
Roller derby is a sport on skates taking place in a skating rink and is played by two opposing teams. Each team will race around the rink to try and score against their opponents, which is done by a changing, designated player called the jammer (they'll have a start placed on their helmet). They're meant to get passed everyone else, who are taking the roles of blockers, and if the jammer makes it passed every blocker, each of whom will be using every rules-legal body part to block you, they score a point.
There are rules in play to avoid grievous injuries, but falling and bruising as a result are commonplace. Protective gear is worn to further avoid the worst of it, but accidents can happen.
Roller derby players are overwhelmingly female, and many derby leagues are all-female (and non-binary, genderqueer, etc.). But all-male, and all-gender leagues and teams are also rising in number.
Each player usually has a nickname and a number. Some are given to them by their team, others get to pick them on their own. It depends on the team and place you're playing in and for. Names are usually very heavy on puns, cultural references, derby-specific references (skates, rinks, bodily harm, etc.), as you'll also find in this name generator.
Since roller derby is heavy dominated by female athletes, you'll see some names that are more feminine in nature. They can obviously still be picked by masculine presenting players for all sorts of reasons (irony, personality, etc.); the derby community is usually very queer friendly.
